Privacy Policy — Video Color Check

Video Color Check collects no data. It makes no network requests of any kind. There is no account, no analytics, no error reporting, no remote code, and nothing ever leaves your device.

What the extension does

Video Color Check is a measurement instrument. When you invoke it on a tab, it reads decoded frames of the video playing in that tab to measure signal levels and color-space tagging, and displays the results in a panel on that page. Frames are processed in memory only, are never stored, and are never transmitted anywhere.

Data collection: none

  • No personal information is collected, stored, or shared.
  • No browsing history is read. No page content is collected.
  • No video frames are saved, uploaded, or exported.
  • No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind.
  • No network requests: the extension contains no code capable of contacting a server. You can verify this yourself — the source is plain, unobfuscated JavaScript, and searching it for network primitives (fetch, XMLHttpRequest, WebSocket) finds none.

What is stored on your device

Only your display preferences — measurement units, which scope you last used, panel position, and similar settings. They are kept in Chrome's extension storage on your device (with optional Chrome profile sync, handled entirely by Chrome). Nothing else is stored.

Permissions

  • activeTab — temporary access to the tab you are looking at, only after you click the extension or press its shortcut. Access ends when you leave the tab. The extension has no standing access to any website.
  • scripting — places the measurement panel into that one page when you ask for it. Nothing runs on any page you have not invoked it on.
  • storage — remembers your display preferences, on your device.

The extension deliberately requests no host permissions, no tabs permission, no downloads, no clipboard permission, and no access to any other browser data.

Changes

If a future version ever changes any of the above, this page and the extension's store listing will say so plainly before that version ships. The current version's guarantee is absolute: no data collection, no network.
